Petrol tank and a nice hill.

Hi guys.... anyone had this before.

Was out today in town, petrol light came on about a min before i parked up. Parked an a nice steep hill.

Came back to the car and it wouldn't start, just turn over.. and then die before it went above 1000rpm kinda stalled when i tried to give it some power to do a hill start.

Noticed the petrol light was now flashing when i had the key turned all the way to right and it wasn't moving off the bottom.

Got it started in the end had to put some petrol in it and role it down the hill onto the flat.. that was good fun in town! blocking the street.. lol did feel like a bit of

Was this down to the petrol tank deisgn and the hill and probs not having alot in the tank? never had this before and the light had only just come on, hadn't started flashing...

    Strange...

Yes, very probably, I think that because you were on a hill the petrol had fallen to the wrong 'part' of the tank if you'd like.

Just make sure you don't let your petrol gauge go to red in the future, it's not very good for your engine if it's running in the red.

ya the light flashs when u have very little less and your fuel talk will have baffels in it but they still have a little gap under them to let fuel through so since you were parked on a steep hill the fuel will of just ran away from your pick up pipe bu to be honest i dont like to let mine get that low as it drags all the sh*t off the bottom of your tank (if there is any) and just blocks the fuel filter quicker.

definatley a mk4 tank design problem, my dads estate diesel conked out on him when he was driving up hill and his petrol light wasn,t even on. took him an hour to get it going after putting a can of fuel in.
now he doesn,t let it go under 1/4 of a tank.
