    High mileage turbos??

Found a cheap SRI turbo for sale but its done 120 thousand miles.
its an ex-company car with full vauxhall service history.
just wondering what everyone's opinion is on high mileage turbos as i know theres a few people on the site with turbos that have done a lot of miles.

    any comments??

120k is quite scary but I would take a look at it if the price it right, its more than likely motorway miles so it may be cleaner than the miles suggest. I would imagine it will be on it's second turbo by now but I would probably budget for a VXR turbo just incase. I would say a nicely stamped service book would be essential as it has one and was a company car it's probably had a lot of money spent on it and no expense spared.

Can I ask how much is he/she asking?

I would say pay no more than 4.5K/5K depending on the state of the turbo.

My Calibra Turbo was still on its original turbo when I got rid at 92k, still boosted fine and not a trace of smoke. If they're well looked after, meaning regular oil changes with good oil, allowed to warm up and cool down properly, then they go on a lot longer than 60k. Count in it is probably done most of the miles on the motorway when it's not boosting it could be fine. Sure 120k is quite a lot, but if it's boosting fine and not smoking, then it's either been changed or its been looked after, either way it could well be fine.

buy it for £4500 and replace the turbo with a VXR unit If you intend to mod it buy it, as a lot of parts will be uprated over the time your modify it

You would just need to cheak the other usual wear and tear items though IE Brakes, interior, and genral drive of the car.
