okay have we decided what these cameras are
on both lanes of the m60 ring road between phillips park and deathvalley yet ?

just noticed they are on both sides now,
any one in the mcr area got a specs raidar in their car, to see if it goes off when the pass near them ?

or are they for just reading the number plates for tax and insurance ?

okay just answered my own question
found this on a truckers web site

M60 JETTS Junction 18 to 12 Multi Modal Study
    Background

The M60 between junctions 18 and 12 is currently under severe pressure for long periods of the day as a result of serious congestion. This is primarily due to the route acting as a Trans-Pennine route, catering for long distance trips and also as the outer ring road for Manchester, which is heavily used by local traffic. The study was commissioned to look at solutions which will keep traffic moving without adversely affecting the local road network, local communities or the surrounding environment. Furthermore, the study was to investigate ways of improving journey time reliability on long distance movements.

    Recommendations

The consultants have recommended measures to manage traffic growth, with the report stating that the most effective means of achieving this is to segregate long distance M62 traffic from local M60 traffic by redesigning the motorway to provide segregated lanes. New slip roads would be constructed to bypass junction 12, and the scheme would also require some localised widening to accommodate the design. In addition, there would be significant investment in public transport improvements to relieve the M60 along with short-term traffic management techniques, such as variable speed limits enforced by cameras. An integral part of the recommendations is the introduction of area wide road user charging within Greater Manchester, after 2011, as a long-term solution to reducing congestion on the M60.

    Importance to Industry

The M60 between junctions 18-12 is a strategic route for local, regional, national and international freight traffic and forms a section of the Trans-European Road Network (TERN). Congestion and varying journey times between the junctions are putting additional pressure and cost on businesses delivering to, or travelling through, Greater Manchester. The improvements proposed will greatly benefit long distance freight movements.

Industry needs an early assessment to establish what work needs to be done on this vital trade route.
