    sri alloys, aluminium?

hi all, have sri turbo alloys on my car, and a bit of the paint is starting to flake etc and they could do with a refurbish really (more money). but i was thinking instead of just gettin em done the same, i wanted them polished, not chrome just a nice shiny aluminium, think it would look nice. so i was wondering, underneath the paint are theese wheels aluminium, because if they are i can just get them polished. if anyone knopws what theese wheels are made of it would be a good help, cheers

    Found this:

    ALLOY

(Met.) Metal prepared by adding other metals or non-metals to a basic metal to secure desirable properties.
    ALLOY STEEL

Steel containing substantial quantities of elements other than carbon and the commonly-accepted limited amounts of manganese, sulfur, silicon, and phosphorous. Addition of such alloying elements is usually for the purpose of increased hardness, strength or chemical resistance. The metals most commonly used for forming alloy steels are: nickel, chromium, silicon, manganese, tungsten, molybdenum and vanadium. “Low Alloy” steels are usually considered to be those containing a total of less than 5% of such added constituents.

As for your wheels, god knows! LOL

Yes they'll be a form Aluminium Alloy.

You could get them polished, but polished Aluminium is exactly the same finish as Chrome.

my friend has polished audi a8 rims on his mk5 golf and they are nothing like chrome alloys just have a shine to them, and when he bought them he was told they are polished aluminium,

Maybe there are different levels of polishing?

It will be, sorry i assumed you'd want it highly polished for some reason, even tho i did read your first post!

I doesn't matter what grade Aliminium they're made from. They will polish the same as your mates Audi rims.

Mike Warners turbo alloys are a nice finish, they have a machined face and painted elsewhere, this is how I see the process:

wheels stripped, hopefully not too kerbed/damaged.
painted, in his case in some sort of grey
faces machines on lathe, looks bloody superb
whole wheel laquered to gloss the paint and protect the bare alloy finish

If you had this done you could really not kerb them as there is no protective primer stopping the alloy from corroding

My wheels are the single thing I get the most PMs about.

They are finished in light anthracite and have diamond cut faces. The work was done by Wicked Wheels in Crawley (although they have branches all over).
