    Question Cambelt change

    Afternoon everyone,

    Quick question for u all - when should I be looking at changing the cambelt on my 02 sri turbo? its covered 36.5k to date

    yes - pulleys should be done - thats why the belts fail mostly - and may as well do the pump for peace of mind

    kewl cheers, how much should i be looking at to get the cambelt done u reckon?

    Water pumps normally go a few weks after cambelt changed anyway, so get it changed as a matter of course, the idlers are plastic and wear out. if you buy a cambelt kit the idlers and tensioner come with it.

    oh and around the £200 mark all in should be a good price. I would pay no more than £250!

    the idle pulleys sieze - bearings go in them causing the belt to rub on the seized pully which then heats the belt until it shreds - avergae vauxhall price is around 200 quid, water pumps i think are around 45 quid.

    you sometimes get some warning the pulleys about to seize - it makes noises - but change it immediately or do not drive the car if any odd noises occur- i had a v6 one sieze taking half the engine with it

    Ouch, thats not summit that'll bring a smile to ya face.

    Well thanks for the advice, just rang ma local vaux and they said £245 inc pulleys and tensioners.

    when u say odd noise how do u mean? there is a ticking noise, but as far as i can grasp it seems the Z20LET is a very "ticky" engine??

    that price is prob with out VAT and did it include the waterpump?
