    Rattling wiper stalk buttons

As title, the two buttons to control the trip computer on the end of the wiper stalk are rattling badly.

It's as if they should have little springs behind them but they haven't any more.

Is this possible? If so, could I just replace the buttons, or would I need a whole new stalk? If I do need a new stalk, how much would this cost?

I found this thread so I think I should be able to have a go at fitting it myself.

    Thanks for any help.

    It's odd that they rattle

Being as someone put it together once, it will come apart , but the question is will it go back together again. You might just be better off replacing it lock stick, as something might be awry inside

    As you said.

Yes they should have springs (2 in oppisite corners) to stop the switch rattling.

New switch is about £35 from Vauxhalls

Ok, looks like i'll be trying to find me a new stalk.

I can try and prise the buttons off to have a look, but i don't really want to lose the wipers for any time if i can help it.

    Cheers

    Update:

They should indeed have little springs in them, the buttons can actually be pulled off very easily.

One of the springs was missing and that was causing the rattling, so I wedged a small piece of sponge in and now its fine, and still works the computer.

The strange thing is, theres a small locating stick that the spring slots onto, and where the spring was missing there isnt even this. It's as if neither the spring or locating rod were ever fitted.
