    x18 vs z18

    115bhp vs 125bhp

however the engine was phased out, not sure if the coupe ever shipped with it as it (as a model) came later than the hatch.

how can you tell which one you have? does the engine cover have anything to do with it coz ive noticed some are silver and some black! also will the year have anything to do with it! was the 115bhp one in the earlier cars? etc

If your 1.8 was pre sept 2000 it's 113 bhp (115ps) the cat is next to the manifold on the x18 and underneath on the z18.
However don't think the Coupe was made with the x18 engine.
x18 engines where also on throttle cables while the z18 was flyby wire

So only hatchbacks and 5 doors were made with the 115bhp engine, does the engine cover have any part in it! as ive seen coupes with silver engine covers and others with black

it's actually part of the manifold in the Z18, change one, change the other! got us by the balls

The coupe wasn't in the January 2000 Vauxhall price list.

Early Coupe brochures (November 1999) list the 115PS 1.8

Since the 115PS X18XE1 (not X18XE, that's a different, bigblock, engine) was discontinued from production in August 2000 and replaced by the 125PS (123bhp) Z18XE from September 2000, it's probable that most coupes used only the later type of 1.8 engine.
