    Mk4 SXI '00 Disappearing Oil

I have no obvious oil leaks, no horrible smoke coming out of the exhaust apart from a bit of white smoke on cold mornings for about 5mins.

But on a regular basis I find the oil has just run really low.(just touching the dip)

I've heard this may be a known problem with the mk4's and someone had suggested using GTX magnatec as this improved matters. They also mentioned that vauxhall were aware of a problem and supplied vauxhall oil free of charge.

    Anybody experienced this?
    Any ideas?
    Any Solutions?

    Cheers

some of the 1.6's use 1 ltr per 1000 miles and thats considered ok, i'd say don't worry about it too much as long as it runs ok

Vauxhall did have a problem with oil burning due to possible piston and rings and possible bore glazing on certain engines, but unless you noticed this while under warrenty they don't want to know, what your losing if down to this is not bad compared to some customers i've seen, vauxhall did replace quite a few engines under warrenty for this problem
