    Bearing Noise???

just changed both rear bearings on the astra as they were making a whiring noise
however im stil getting the same noise coming from the rear, fitted 2 brand new bearings and cant figure out why im still getting the noise? do they need time to 'bed in' or anything? done nearly 200miles on the new ones and still sounds crap! any ideas?

I am only after seeing your thread and after starting one on the same topic.

I was told by the Opel Dealer that the whole Hub on the Astra G needs to be changed as the wheel bearing was built into it.

Did you get the whole hub's changed or just the wheel bearing. Are you sure that they where changed at all.

Could it have been the front?

the old rears were definetly nackered as you could feed the 'play' in the wheel when it was up on the ramps. the noise realy seems to be coming from the back, could it b the rear discs / brake pads??

could be, but I doubt it'd make the same growling noise as a bearing would make. Check the fronts for play as well, or ask the mech to look at it.

well im having my new wheels fitted on saturday so il get chance to check it over then, i know the rear discs are a bit 'rippled' when you feel the surface of the disc
the front passenger side bearing was replaced about 2 weeks before i bought the car (2months ago) so il check the drivers side one thoroughly
    bloody expensive game this is!!!
