    Talking Tuning Boxes

Just got one of these tuning boxes this morning. Was spectical from the start but thought might as well give it a go especially with the moneyback guarantee. Its one of those powerclick boxes from andrew at diesel tuning uk.

Was easy enough to fit and of course i had to take the car a run this morning just to see how good it is. Let the car warm up and then nailed it and boy does it take off. Revs right up to 4k and keeps pulling. Very impressed.

Hit the sport button on the way back and all hell breaks loose. The car wants to rip the tires off...lol...at least thats what it feels like.

Must say it is an excellent purchase and best of all its removeable.

Good job, glad you're happy with it.

Shame you couldn't make it along to last month's rolling road meet the N. Ireland Region had. Maybe next year.

baz's CDTi-150 pulled 170-odd on the rollers and it's totally standard and isn't really run in yet.

Still, a decent remap is always better than a tuning box as long as you don't mind the map being permenant.

Thats the reason I really went for a tuning box. Dont want to invalidate my warranty etc.

Might take it along to a rolling road to see exactly what its putting out. Know any good ones where I could just take the car along?

We went to TorqueTronix up in Kells (just outside Ballymena) for the meet, but we also used DS Autos in Antrim last year. I've been on East Coast Custom's one in Lisburn too.

Most charge £40-50 for a power run.

ADi, our local guy charges about £250 for a remap, and he remapped a 75hp Corsa 1.7DTi to 105hp.

    Hello Roger,

Im pleased the unit arrived safely and on time for you, and glad to see that you're enjoying the extra power which is achieved by the box.

We set the box up to the same settings that we ran our sporthatch a couple of weekends ago which acheived 194.1bhp and 298lbft of torque.

We're also testing a K&N panel filter ( which is a good mod to start with especially with the box) and a K&N induction kit which should take it over the 200bhp mark

Anyway remember that you can switch the Sport Button OFF, and drive safely.

Any problems, dont hesitate to contact myself or Barney

    Many thanks

    Andrew

Andrew, what sort of power was the Mk5 getting before the box?

I know a local 1.9 150 was getting just about 172hp in totally standard trim.
