    Gearbox replacement

Trying to decide if I should do one myself or not bother at all.

I feel i'm a fairly good mechanic and it's just a case of unbolting a heavy box while obviously supporting the engine.

My concernes are the driveshafts where I assume we have to split the bottom ball joint or strut so get them out and also clutch and possible allimement after?

    Anything i'm missing?

IIRC The vectra is a lot easier to do than the Astra.

Get a haynes manual and give it a go!

Any reason why it shouldn't be attempted by myself?

Clutch was literally done 2 weeks ago

IF I end up doing it it will only be done to sell the car on as my brothers now had enough

I know when they did my gearbox they did it through the wheelarch mostly. Not sure if they what else had to be removed - subframe etc.

They're not light I can tell you that much! So make sure you've had your weetabix!
