    Help needed buying new car.

Trying to buy a new car.

Criteria, must seat 5 in comfort, Diesel and automatic.

    So that boils down to

    Mundano,
    Vectra,
    Passat,

But was just looking at Saab 9-5 with the 2.2 Dti engine, found one with £14,000 miles for £12,999.00 which seams reasonable.

Assume the 2.2 is the old lump used in the Vectra. So has anybody driven one of these with an autobox, suppose the Vectra would be similar drive re engine gearbox. Whats that modifiable too....

    Opinions appreciated.

Vectra CDTi without a doubt. Bargains nearly new and easy to tune.

Mondano is actually a very good car too but not as ripe for extra power.
    Previous Astras: 1994 Cesaro 1.8 16v | 2002 SXi 1.6 16v | 2001 Coupé 2.0 Turbo | 1999 LS 1.6 16v
    Other Vauxhalls: 2001 Vectra 1.8 16v| 2003 Vectra GSi 3.2 V6 | 2005 Signum CDTi 150

Have been toying with the Vectra 3.0 V6 Dt according to the "official" mpg figures not much in it with the 2.2

The 2.2 is a bit slow with the autobox.

If you're gonna get a Veccy, get a 1.9, mate. it's got 25bhp more than the 2.2 and they're pretty cheap, now the facelifted one's out. Then you can pop up to the new VXR Performance Centre at Triple Eight and get the 200bhp remap!

19 Dti is a far superiro engine if you are going Vauxhall-

Have a look on MIg, theres a guy looking at 320d Bm's for between 10 - 12k and they go well, look great, leather etc etc, one absolutely destroyed me in my Astra Sport lol

However, the 150 or 130 pd Passat is also a great car in its own right - personally far superior to a Vectra in build quality - but the Veccy C does have a very quiet and comfortable ride to give its dues!

Lol well ive ended up with a 1.8 Vtec Honda at the mo, and have driven a load of other 1.6's recently and tbh i thought the Sport wasnt too slow, just could do with come stiffer suspension to stop it diving and rolling all over the shop!
