    mobile water damage question

iv dropped my nokia 6230 in a cup of tea (yes dont ask how that happened, it just did!lol)

now i realy dont care about the phone, but all my numbers are on there (about 200+) plus some photos which were saved on the phone memory! (including a few females )
iv put the phone in the fridge for a few hours, then my mate told me to put in on top of my fireplace for a few hours to dry it out.

now iv put the battery back in (i removed it with seconds of the accident) but the phone just lights up, but doesnt turn on!

does anyone know if this will fix itself over time, or have i just become the worlds biggest idiot?

Take the cover off, battery and sim card out, and lay it on top of a radiator for as long as you can...

Try and give the circuits time to dry out.

I dropped my moby down the toilet

I think the sugar in the tea would have killed the phone to be honest, I have read you can by some special water which clears out the electrical contacts and may get it working again.

Other than that I think you may have killed it

MLAM is right, I managed to kill a mobile, got caught in a seriously haevy downpour, mobile was in bag with american hard gums :-D, bag got flooded and the sugar corroded the electrics.

did you have sugar in your tea?! the heat can't of done it much good either.

Lol, even though it was only 1/4 it still would have done the damage I think. as thats where the charger connector is. Give it a go or try and find out about that electrical contact clearer liquid, I dont know a lot about it myself, read it on a mobile forum.

If not time for a new phone maybe, ahem

My GF brother left his phone in his jeans pocket, one 40deg wash later. 1 dead phone.

Until it was placed in the airing cupboard for a couple of days.

    Worked again.

Worth trying you've nothing to lose now.

It may help if you also take the phone to bits and clean the circuit boards with with isopropyl alcohol (Don't use anything else which is water based).

It may work initially after drying out, however the contacts may start to rust over time. You should ideally let it dry out and clean with isopropyl alcohol before any attempt is made to re-connect thee battery or charge.
