    2.2 astra brakes

    ive been told that the astra 2.2 has diffrent caliper eg some have bosch and some have lucas im not sure what one i have but woul like to know what the best ones are to have ive never had any probs with mine would just like to know mines is a 2001 astra also im thinking of getting the lmf brake disc conversion on the front up 308mm it says i will need 17s for the callipers but i would like to know if u can still have the 16s on cheers

    If they got four lateral ridges across the back of the caliper then you got Bosch (boo) ones. If they are smooth the you've got Lucas (hooray).

    As you've got a 2001 then you may well have Bosch - but check anyway.

    And assuming you've got the standard 5-twin spoke alloys on, 308's won't fit

    You need the calipers (obviously), pads, a new handbrake cable and some brake fluid- then it's a straight swap

    Sorry to drag up an old thread, but didn't wanna ask something that's been said before, and the search button is MY friend!!!

    Why would I need a handbrake cable when changing the front brakes to 308's ??

    You wouldn't

    You would only need a new handbrake cable if converting from drums to discs, or you had a knackered cable
