    Big Trouble!!

    Heres the story....

My engine management light has been coming on and i have a hugh loss in power, car runs loud and rough. I took it to a back street mechanic who put new plugs in and a new coil pack, set me back £150... no difference what a waste of money.

so i took it to vauxhall for a diagnositic, they said the codes didnt make sense or sumet, they deleted the codes on the ecu, gave me the keys back with no charge and said we dont know what the fault is, we will need a couple of hours, we suggest u take it to an idependant garage with cheaper labour costs.

Got in my car, started engine. bingo.!!! car was back to normal, i thought i was on a winner as i didnt pay for diagnositic.

4 days later... running crap again. i took it to another garage, they did another diagnositc, said the ecu codes werent directing them anywhere specific, so they would need to strip the engine down, they estimated it will cost me approx £1000. they said it is a mechanical fault, the back street mechanic told me it was electrical.

i cant understand what vauxhall would have done to make car run perfect again.

Anyone know what the problem could be im running out of ideas, i cant afford £1000

p.s ive been told that all sparkys have a spark and that the compressions tests were spot on

    sorry about the long thread

I think the fact vauxhall did nothing mechanical to it and fixed it, means its an electrical fault, It must be...

I think your best bet would be to run it back to vauxhall...

I'm not sure, I'm sure someone on here will be able to help you out though, Its prob something and nothing - It'll just take ages to find out what it is

What does your car run like? Loss of power? Lumpy? Does it sound like its missing?

I would definately try a different vauxhall dealer....

after the ECU codes being cleared, your best to run about a bit then go back and get them checked.
    Surprised they never suggsted that.

As for Mr Backstreet, he may not have enough diagnostic equipment to trace the fault...
