    Golf?

I am thinking of getting a second car for my girlfriend to use and me sometimes as she passed her test the other month and has been trained in the 2.2. I was thinking of a VW Golf 1.8 Turbo car as she likes the look of them, or maybe a 2.0 model. Had anyone got any bad or good info on the Golf range? Whats the older V6 like

the 1.8T would out run your car mark
the golf V6 is a nice spec car and cheap for what they can do
most come with full recaro leather
and most of the later ones have sat nav as well

if your looking at the 1.8T...if you can afford it, get the anniversiry edition...iirc the wheels upgraded from 17s to 18s...nice bodycoloured bumpers and trim...oh and a hike in power from 150bhp to 180nhp

the 150bhp standard golf gti is pretty slow for what it should be tbh...would be slower than a 2.2 astra i reckon...

Vr6 is a very nice motor but will gazzumple a bit of petrol....u could get similar power out of the turbo

its like any car if its been looked after then it will be fine if its not then it can be a problem as my mate found out when he brought a 3yr old 2.0 8V GTI it had just over 80K mile on the clock and it was a right shed.

everything was ****ed on the car.

my 1.6 16V astra used to leave it for dead so there was deffinatly something wrong with his car.

in the end after spending over £1K trying to fix the problems he traded it in for a what he could get for it and brought a clio 172.

so just make sure its been well looked after and when serviced and you should be fine.

My GT TDI is for sale in the for sale section

    £5800

    73k miles and FSH

the main problems are MAF units like the ones in the Z20LET

    they go all the time

also the window mechanisms go as well and he window drops inside the door

oh and the 3 door models suffer from door hinge drop

all of which have been sorted on mine
