Thumbs Up Apexi Cone Filter Finally Fitted!!

Yup, after trying to get hold of one for over 4 months now, I received it through the post yesterday and fitted it just now. The reason I wanted this filter is because the design is superb. It gives a standard skyline GTS an extra 15bhp!!! (tested figure). Not only is the design good, but the filter material does not contain oil, therefore prolonging the life of the AMM.

    Here are some photos:

The noise is unbelivable!! The sucking noise is mad! You can here the recirc. valve open at slight throttle spinning up the turbo read for when you boot it. Floor and the the recirc. noise goes and is replaced by a nice roar. Not only this, but the OE dump valve is louder than the Bailey DV-26D was!!! Mad!!!!

This test explains why I chose this filter:

Cold air is right against the underside of it. I haven;t driven it nuch since fitting so I can't comment on heat soak. Should not be an issue with the FMIC and Water Injection.

Looking good that mike, did you use the same hoses from your 2.2 mod. gutted you just managed to do this as i would have had your air box off you if i hadn't already bought one. Will be interesting to see if you suffer and regular AMM failures whilst this is on.

If you check the filtration test in the above link, you will see it filters really well - plus no oil! So it should be the best option to prolong the life of the AFM. I may hold onto my 2.2 airbox as this filter is really loud and I may get bored with it. But once I'm running the garrett setup, this filter will hopefully make all the difference.

It doesn't feel anymore powerful, but I think the ECU needs a reset and time to adapt as it feels like so much more air is going in.

I already had the 2.2 box so the AFM wiring was already extended. I may start importing these as you can't get them in the UK. It only cost around £80 to buy and import from the US. The silicon pipes were about £25.
