    Mk5 CDTi - 120 or 150?

Finally getting to test drive a SH SRi 150 CDTi at the weekend all being well, but one question I have, especially if/when I get one, how do I tell the difference between the 120 and 150PS versions? Obviously if I drive them both I'd be able to tell, but are there any visual differences? What is to stop a dealer selling me a 150 when in actual fact it's a 120?

    Thanks.

you wont get sold a 120 if you ask for a 150, and if you ever did, thats not on & its illegal.

The dealer will tell you what model it is... im sure

Dont they both remap to the same amount? If the 120 is cheaper to buy and insure, buy it and remap it.

As said, if you ask for the 150ps version I am sure its illegal for them to sell you a 120ps version.

120PS is an 8v engine, the 150PS is a 16v engine. They should look quite different.

Whoever told you that is fibbing.

Check out page 8 of the brochure linked below - the 120PS is indeed 8v.

120 isnt 8v, it's 16 same as the 150, 888 tuned the 120 instead of the 150 because it was exactly the same engine but the 120 is slightly cheaper to buy than the 150. Regal also chip both versions to the exact same power so they must be the same engine. Dunno if they had an 8v when they first came out or not, but there not 8v anymore.
