    Passenger Airbag Removal??

Has anyone attempted this, can it be done? Did a search but can only find info on drivers airbag removal, not passenger.

Thinking of starting family soon and dont want to chop in my astra convertible fo some boring family car. Also my car has side airbags in the seats, would this affect having a child seat/basket in the front seat??

Would appreciate any feedback or technical advice.

    Okay,

Just been reading the manual regarding airbags.....if you are to use a child seat/basket you can get a transponder which diables the front passenger and side airbags....as part of the "Seat Occupancy Recognition" system...

Otherwise advice is that no child restraint system be fitted due to risk of fatal injury

So I'd call your dealer and ask about retro fitting this "Seat Occupancy Recognition"

It's on page 86 of the manual...

AFAIK this can't be retro fitted, but don't take this as gospel. Just put the baby seat etc in the back!

Cant you unplug it and bridge the 2 conections with a 3 amp fuse like you do with the drivers one when fitting an after market steering wheel?

All the airbag ecu looks for is that its not open circuit.

Yes of course a baby seat could be put in the back but i'm sure this would piss you off after a while.
