X18 - Sluggish in traffic with Aircon on

    Hey Guys,

On a hill, stopped in traffic.
Aircon is on as its really hot.
Pull off and the car seems very sluggish until the revs climb to 4k.

Any way I can test the AFM ?

    Thanks!

I thought this was normal as the air con pump is putting strain on your engine??

yep, on most engines (less noticable on larger yank mobiles ) the air con system will make your car slightly slower & more sluggish.

Especially in really hot weather stuck in traffic... you car aint gettin any cold air that way

During the two years of ownership of my first aircon car (GSi) I can honestly say I have never noticed ANY difference in power whether the system is on/off ....

Probably more like in the average British summer, the UK doesn't get as warm during the day as Johannesburg would be at night ...!

I've had 3 or 4 cars with A/C - one being a 2.5v6 24v - and have always noticed the difference in engine power with it on - it will cut in and out on the pressure created with compressing the gas and condensing it into a cool liquid anyway. its just normal. Only worry if it sounds rough or takes a while to get cold.
