    Question smokey Zlet!!!

    hi this follows on from a previous thread!
    i have probs with a smokey turbo! or so i thought?
    it's when on tick over for a few mins! i had my turbo reconed 3 months ago some said it could be that again since then i've drain intercooler and found about 1 pint of oil, seemed to of cured it for 1 night then the next day and it's back! checked turbo and still all clean, no oil! any ideas???

    booted it around town smelt hot cat stinks of egg vauxhall told me it does that when hot and burning as it should! is that right??

    please help i'm running out of ideas!!!!!!

    Are you getting smoke out of your exhaust?

    If so it's probally the valve stem oil seals or piston rings, either of which is not good news.

    If not it's probally the breathing system, check the 1 way valve on the crank case breather because if it's broken oil will be blown into the breathing system and end up in the intercooler as it's the lowest point.

    If it's not the above then it looks like you're in for a trip to a garage....

    if it is oil that is smoking will i notice it on the dip stick or is it only going to be small amounts

    If youve got a pint of oil in your i/c (shouldn`t have any) then its prob the turbo oil seals, you cant get oil in the i/c any other way as far as im aware.

    sorry m8 the oil has been in there from before my turbo was reconed i was speaking to the vauxhall garage and said something about and he said they never drained it they didn't see the need too!!! i coundn't of done it any good

    just thought of something else someone said when the seals went and oil went everywere the cat would of took some by now that should of burnt out but what about the precat that must of took most of the oil! could that of burnt out??

    No. No-one sells a de-cat for the main zlet cat as it would fail emmisions. There's also an O2 sensor that would make the car run rough.

    You could get a de-cat made and work around the sensor but it's probably not worth the effort.
