    Rust on mk4 arches?

Gave the car a damn good wash and polish today and when i was polishing the bottom of the rear arch i noticed what looks like some surface rust building up then going down towards the skirt. Anyone else had similar problems? Have the mk4 got a 10 or 12 year anti corrosion guarentee? Trip back to vauxhall maybe?

It's a 6 years anti-perforation warranty - that's rot holes (ie right through) and not surface rust

So are they assuming that by the time its gained surface rust and developed into rot holes the 6yrs will have passed? lol. Or am i just being naive

Arwel Im pretty sure itll only cost you £100-150 to have that arch sorted by a decent guy. Where in S Wales are you?

You need to get all the paint off around the rusty bit, cut it back to bare shiney metal, treat with rust killer/preventative and then spray back up again

Probably just the paint coming off. Mine is losing the paint on the back arch, but it's solid galvanised metal underneath.
