    Corsa C...What to look for?

My Mum needs a new car and a 2003 Corsa C 1.2SXI has come up with supposedly 3800 on the clock (although I think my mate got that wrong in the text - I think it should be 38,000)

Done a quick search and not a lot has come up, so was just wondering if anyone knew what I should look for if we go and see this car, are there any weak spots, problems to look for etc.

Steering rack and timing chain are the two main issues in the 1.2 Corsa C. Ring Vauxhall Customer Services in Luton with the reg number and they'll be able to tell you if the car has been affected by the two recalls.

Other than that, they're a good enough little car. Won't win many races, and boot space is useless, but otherwise they're reasonable.

I had a 2004 1.2 SXi, did 18k in it in 18 months, not a problem. Only reason I got rid if it was the lack of boot space.

Only things gone wrong with the wife's corsa is the rubber on the clutch pedal came off and the housing for one of the fog lights somehow shattered. Foglight fixed under warranty...?

Never had a problem with the chain or anything else. Touch wood. Its a 2002 on a 51 plate.

My mates 1ltr also had problems with the gear linkage, and the oil pressure switch broke 3 times in 2 years.

danny. the ones with ABS have considerably better brakes than the ones without. In fact, I'd nearly say they're too much. You can get into an ABs induced skid very easily.

We've had two Corsa's, never had any problems with either, my Dad has a 1.2 Corsa he's been problemless too.

Usual looking at a new car checks then.

i had a 53 plate corsa C , weeks after gettin it when travelling at motorway speed the steerin collumn wud shake like a mofo ,way more then it shud so took it to vauxhalls who told me the steering rack was loose plus i know alot more people who have taken there back also for the same problem most from www.corsa-c.co.uk - infact thats prolly a better place to ask for faults with the corsa C...there prolly just as helpful as this site

plus i also had a letter in the post from motorbodies couple weeks back sayin of another fault which required me to take it back but as i've sold the car...can't remember wot the fault was tho.
