    caliper wind tool

    caliper wind tool,,

    i have been looking to purchase one for changing my discs and pads on my astra sri (astra g) i can't seem to work out what tool to buy.. can ppl pls point out the correct tool for me to purchase and links etc will but much appreciated...

    Nope you need to rotate the piston as your push it in, on the rears.

    Halfords do the proper one for about £19ish

    so is the one that halfords do a specail tool just for vauxhall??? so i know what im asking for and is the one m4ocoo suggested only good for front calipers??

    I always use the handle of hammer (used as a lever) to mover the front calipers back, rather than but a sperate tool - which would be the one Coo posted.

    But for the rears, they must be rotated back into the housing, so you'll need a another special tool for that. Which is something like this...http://www.lasertools.co.uk/item.aspx?item=356&cat=378

    yeah ffoeg is correct with that last link to the caliper wind back tool.
    i hate using them at work as i always get them stuck.

    i find a better option is to use a 12mm allen key in the centre,(this only work on ford i dont know about vaux.)

    so halfords would be the best bet for the tool for the rear calipers...?

    I was only looking at one in my local halfords last week - so if by 'best' you mean 'easiest' then problably yes it is
