Peouget 106's (What are they like)?

    What are peouget 106's like?

    Good cars/bad cars?

    Cheap to repair?

Looking at an early 106 XSi as they are 1360cc (So cheap tax and insurance) and 100 bhp.

Sould be nice and nippy but good as a run about

Generally pretty good - fun to drive and nippy.

Build quality isn't to hot, bit tinny inside and the driving position leaves a lot to be desired.

Not too sure on reliability but i've not heard any mightmare stories really. Like any other car buying a good example with extensive history is the best idea.

Good enough cars. I had one that was great fun, blighted by the fact the useless dealers couldn't fix some relatively simple faults.

Mine was only a 1.1, but it went like the clappers, and got a solid 55mpg even when driven flat out. Handled well too, even on the comedy 165-65/13 Fuel-saver tyres.

my bro has got a 1.6 8V XSI and that is a quick motor.

fairly easy to repair as my brother brought it with light front end damage and bits were easy to get hold.

apart from the front bumper being an XSI so the damaged bumper had to be repaired.

also not sure if its a common problem or not but the standard alarm and central locking didn't work either so we replaced it with an aftermarket alarm.

my little 1.1 106 was a quick little beast, revved to the death & wasnt much slower on the twisties than the xsi...

good little cars, and the GTi's are in a diferent league, and feel much better built.

I had a 1.4 quiksilver before my astra, Nice little car!

The 1.1's are even quite nippy, but i'd get a new shape XS (1.6 8v) or a GTi if I were to get another

mate has a GTi - fantastic car to drive / handles brilliantly - however sooo much has gone wrong with his he can't quite believe it. So he's no longer keen on them at all.
