    Engine management light...

Before I set off from the lights at a casual pace (ie not flooring it) as the roads were wet and the wheels spun at 2200 revs, so I change up and they do it again, change up again and still spin at 2200 so stick it in 5th and do 30 in fith where they stop spining.

30 seconds later the management light (looks liek a square with a chimney and thunderbolt through the centre?) comes on. As i have cars behind me I dont stop but look for a place to pull over where it goess off. So i drive on. Just as I'm coming round the corner to home it comes back on again.

I've just had the engione rebuilt and only got the car back on friday. Any ideas why it may be doing this?

I have the valves, pistons, cam system, water and oilpump replaced.

you sure it was the wheels spinning? or you weren't on ice? as I cannot believe that a stock 1.6 could spin the wheels at 2.2k in 3rd gear, even in the wet!

I highly doubt it was ice. its about 5C out on a well used road.

Any ideas to why the lights on?

Mine did the same problem until only last week when i had the EGR valve changed. That was interupting the engine management light too. I had a mate who has worked in garages for 30 years to do it and he said that was the problem. Dont think theyre cheap though, about Ł80 i think. Im not even totally sure thats your problem without being there to see for myself.

Ya, either AFM or EGR Valve...
Hopefully the EGR Valve, as they are cheaper and generally only need a clean...

sounds like your traction control warning light - the engine management light shouldn't go off until diagnostics run and reset. The engine management light is a car outline with a spanner through. Check your manual and just double check the symbols on your model matey
