    problem with bends

i have a key for my car that has a bend in it. It just about fits in the door and takes some wiggling. It's the only one i have and don't want it to brake. How much does a new key cost. No central locking on it it's a mk3 key nice and simple and do you have to go to your local vauxhaul garage

Yeah i would go for an original if you want it to start the car(as it has a transponder in the key) otherwise you could always go to your local locksmith who would be able to replicate your "bent" key.
Maybe put two pieces of hard wood either side of the key and slowly squash it in a vice? maybe that would align the key a little?

Put the key on a flat piece of metal, and use a 4lb hammer to flatten it. Done it several times to my Mk4 keys, as I regularly bend them when in a hurry to shut the windows during a rain shower.

If you have a later MK3 with the transponder cjip built in your not going to have many options open to you as you have to get the key programmed in aswell
