    Pinking (Knocking) Problem

    Hi guys,

im aus, here. Anyway i have a 05 Astra G Classic. Z18XE engine
I noticed that it has start to knock (for a second or so) when accelerating, especially up a hill, or slight incline. I use 98 or 96 Ron fuel.
Car has only 25,000 km. oil has been changed every 5000km. nothing has been modified on the car except the rear muffler.

The ECU hasnt registered any faults.
I thought id ask if you guys have any ideas.?

Get it into your local vxl dealership and see if they can replicate what you believe you can hear.
Its within your warranty period, so better to be safe

well ive used to have a car before that used to knock all the time so i know what it sounds like.
but yeah anyway i did take it back to the dealer few weeks ago and they couldnt find anything. no error codes etc.
so i have it booked in again and if this time if they say they cant hear it ill take it for a drive with them to show them.

I can also understand their point of view. I mean they arent going to fiddle around with it, cause unless they can pinpoint the extact nature of the problem then they cant claim back the expense back to holden/vauxhall.

I might actually fill up on 91 Ron fuel and seee if the knocking is more evident. i guess if it is then there is something wrong. if not, might be something else. Like the tension pulleys or something.
