    TRAGIC Astra depreciation!!!

Just tested a new Focus ST and they valued my Astra.
It's April 05, done 12.5k miles, lists at about £18700 (plus met paint) but we got it for £16k.

They came back with a price of...

    £9500!!!!!

Just checked Parkers and although that's too low, it's not actually that far off.

So has my car HALVED in value in 9 months?

    Holy shiiiiiiiiiit

Hmmm - But we needed new for the warranty (it was partly for work) and we got a big old discount and 0% (try getting that on a 2nd hand car!) on the bit we didn't pay.

Oh well, at least we not paying interest ON TOP of the depreciation - That's REALLY chucking money down the drain.

Better keep the Astra for a while methinks...

The joys of new vauxhalls - like I keep saying, I don't believe in having regrets but if I could change one thing i've done it would be buying a brand new mk4. Never, ever again.

The worst part is that most people buy new cars on finance... paying interest on something that depreciated that much is mad!

(Mat - I know you got a part finance 0% deal though)

I'll stick to driving an old Mk3 that I owe nothing and im not going to lose more than a few pounds on. Much more satisfying.
