    VXR Red...

    Is it flame red?

Why is this vauxhalls basic colour. Its much more eye catching than star silver, so why do they charge more for the silver?

Or peel off after 3 years....

Yeah, discovered yesterday my paint is peeling off the galvanising round the back wheel arch. Shame the warranty ran out today. Hopefully the anti-corrosion will cover it.

Besides, Silver is "the colour" at the moment. Red was "the colour" back in the late 80s and early 90s.

Simple silver costs more to manufacture and longer to paint as its clear over base, again more paint is required, pure economics i'm afraid

Flame Red is now clear over base as well, so its the same process to paint red as it is to paint silver or any other colour as the case might be

VXR red is Magma red listed in the brochure origionally as Flame red, but automatically changed to Magma when ordered. And it doesnt cost anymore to paint a car in a metallic than it does in a base colour, just a nice way of manufacturers making more money, you dont pay extra for metallic on the continent. and
