    the 40 part of your tyre ref doest mean mm, it means 40% of the tyres width. it's a ratio

    im no sure about this one i know they used to do it that way dave but if u think about it 40% of tyre width that would mean its nearly 50% of tyre width if that was true 40`s would be like tractor wheels maybe im wrong just does not seem to work out

    well ive got 225's on mine, with 35 profiles so thats 78mm walls. get a ruler or tape measure out, thats not a lot!!! don't forget the bit of the tyre wall u can see, isn't the full height, as the tryes curve towards the middle.

    It's the height of the tyre wall, from the outer edge to inner edge of the bead, expressed as a percentage of the tyre footprint width.

    So it doesn't included the bit you can't see under the rim and doesn't take into account the full width of the trye.

    Andyfoz - what size wheels (offset as well) and tyres are you thinking about with this 40mm drop???
