    Ford America - nae luck...

    30,000 jobs to be lost, 14 plants to close.

    Not looking good....Hope GM can turn their fortunes around or they'll be going aswell...

    Don't know what consequences for Ford uk....

    wouldnt have thought ford would ever close in the US. cant be doing well, is it moving abroad or bad sales?

    More a case of there bad and unreliable products that the consumer does not want, and a case of the Japanese giving those same consumers what they want. Plus the fact that they have crippled themselves with ex-employee's pension schemes which I have heard costs more per car then the steel used to build the car. I hear Jag might be sold off if it does not make a profit real soon.

    Sad for the employees losing there jobs.

    Unfortunately GM is going the same way, which is also not a great thing. From what I have heard they have been studing the Zietche plan at Chrysler (DC) in the hopes that they can emulate it and bring themselves into profit. Unfortunaltey part of this plan was closing various non essential plants and retrenching employee's.
