    Anyone know anything about radio scanners?

    Thinking of getting one just to have a play around with, dont want to spend more than £50, does anyone know if this would be any good?

    REALISTIC PRO-70?

    I havent got a clue about these things

    depends what your trying to listen to.....

    e.g. I believe most emergency services are now digitallly encoded

    yea, ive read about that aswell, i know some still havent, but the majority are now as you say digital, just havent got a clue which type to buy

    thers alot of analogue stuff you can listen too - but the digital days are upon us - the best things you could listen too were the old analogue mobile phones years ago. no doubt a digital scanner could be available somewhere in the future if there isnt one now - ebay you will pick one up cheaply - i have 2 yupiterus

    You can listen on most bands as long as it is not encrypted using simple recievers from maplins and a lap top, ae is just the same as a car reciever is made by a company called icom and the program was a free down load can't remember it's name sorry on that point here are some links which may help

    it was one of my last jobs monitoring military comms, a mag called radio active may also help
