    Z20LET Tuning Parts

Base Car 2000 X Coupe Turbo.

Im not looking for mega power to be honest, but there are a few things i would like to discuss..

    Here are my plans..

VXR Astra Turbo... Purchased and Sitting Beside Me
    Upgraded Intercooler
    Pre Cat Removal Pipe
Air Box Modification (Have a Promotasport Top Cover, Taken the restriction out of the base)
    CS3 Remap or Other???

    A few pointers,

Missing from the above is a de cat pipe, the car has a split irmscher exhaust system.. Have spoken to some who say gains with a sport cat are negligible?

Upgraded Intercooler.. Pace or courtenay? Also considering a VXR astra cooler, any one seen one off a car? does it carry similar properties to a pace item? discuss...

Also, ideally, id like to have the remap done at courenay, but in fairness they are a million miles from me, im stuck in the corner of west wales almost. Regal are much closer but can they cut the mustard?

As you can probably gather from the above, im not ready to splash 1,000s on this car, and looking to do it on a budget of sorts.

    Cheers

VXR intercooler is too tall to fit a Mk4

De-cat is well worth getting and sports cat will also release a few more bhp

the precat is about 10bhp more and increaed torque, i read the sports cat would be more noticable on responsiveness.
the intercooler options are either pace, regal or courtenay or homemade from a different core.
you'll be wanting a panel filter and some iridium plugs too
oh and nothing wrong with regals and you could go switchable with them so the power doesnt bore you after a while

You really do need to get the pre-cat mate to get the best out of that spec. Reasons being 1. To get the max flow rate from your turbo, and 2. to reduce the heat build up in the turbo due to the increased flow rate.

You've only got to look at what happens to the turbo when you are on a Rolling Road to understand why.

I wanna do my precat but when i looked under the car it seam that the precat and cat are all one with no joins in the middle to disconect so does that mean i have to but precat and sports cat together. Oh its a 2001 coupe turbo.

Speak to Courtenay about that one, there's a few solutions you can choose.
Tell me what you've done, not what you're going to!

Theres a flange with 3 bolts from memory seperating the pre-cat and the section incorporating the main cat.

My coupe also has the precat and main cat as one piece.

Even if you buy the precat replacement you still need to have it welded to the cat.
