Normally if your air mass meter has completly gone the TC light comes on as well.

If your emmisions light is on, it is more than likely an 02 sensor gone.

If you are any good with wiring, connect a wire to the signal output of the AFM (I think it is the blue wire) and another wire to earth. Get a multimeter and while driving, get a mate to read the voltage. You should have 1v when the ignition is on but the engine not running, around 1.37v at idle and around a maximum of 4.5v* or more under full load conditions.

*last figure is 4.9v on my car which is running CS3 - I estimated 4.5v for a standard car.

    ----------------------
Basically the more air that flows, the higher the voltage. The max voltage possible is 5v as the signal feed voltage is only 5v. Seems as I'm running 4.9 volts already, I may reach the peak of the AFM capabilities if I upgrade much further. I digress.....
