steering wheel sterep controls used for cruise control...

...now this would be a cool mod!!

    + for speed up
    - for speed down
    o for cruise on
    < turn car left? lol
    > turn car right

but realistically...is it possible for cc to be wired up via steering wheel stereo controls? anyone ever done this...its late at night and it was just a brainwave...might be completely ridiculous

Don't know why you'd want to do it, as the standard cc has speed up, speed down & off... but yeah, it could be done & very easily. You'd obviously loose your radio controls.

i never use the radio controls though...theyre just doing nothing really, and the cc stick i find is a bit fiddly...any ideas how this would work? Im guessing its a chop and solder job?

Yes, chop & solder it would be... You shouldn't need to remove the airbag/steering wheel, but I would advise it! Last thing you want to do is set that ****er off when you connect up the wrong wires! ha ha ha....

Seriously though, if you're no good at electrics etc, then give it a miss.. If you are pretty handy etc, I will dig out the diagrams & work out a way to do it if you like?

i think i'll give it a miss for now...not brave enough to start chopping wires! but if someone else here is, and theyre succesfull at it, then i'll give it a go

i would of thought it would be very simple seeing as the buttons are just on/off switches (cant remember what thos are called now, did it back in school!)...the only difficulty would be finding the correct wires

If I can get hold of the correct plugs, I could make you a loom that would just plug in... I'll keep a look out next time i'm in the scrappy.

Not entirely sure how it would be done, as the I & R buttons on the c/c stalk are push to make & the O button is a push to break. May need to use a relay to sort that out, depending on the switches that are in the steering wheel.

I'll print off the necessary diagrams & have a think

The switches could be converted easily enough, it's getting the cables through that is the problem.
The stereo controls are a switched resistor matrix, the cruise control switches are 3 seperate push-to-make switches.
It can be done, but you will have to run some extra wires from inside the steering wheel back to the coloumn. Not sure if this is easy to do or if there is even a way to get the wires through?
