    backbox to centre section join

just fitted a new sebring and a remus pipe, but the flange joint isn;t quite lining up even with the bolts in and done up, which is leaving a gap for some exhaust gas to escape.

is it just a case of knocking the remus pipe backwards and forwards on it's sleeve fitting until it lines up properly?

did you use a new gasket? when i fitted my stainless backbox i used a new gasket from vauxhall. coz if i hadn't... there would have been a gap. But im sure somebody with experience will come and help you out shortly.

Try using exhaust paste to help seal the asbestos ring ... should do the trick

them remus race tubes can be a bit of a pain to get them sitting flush on the flange end...
As coo says abit of the paste and a good hard pushing and pulling and it will sort it out in time

well, in a moment of stupidity i went to kwik fit and they manged to make the gap much bigger.... then shoved it full of paste.

oh, and they managed to nicely **** up the race pipe by melting through the nuts so they could put their own bolts through. also heated the hangars and moved them in the opposite direction to the way they needed to go....

so it's bodged for now but i am one pissed off bunny really. might just say feck it and buy a new race pipe and start again!

    sigh.....
