Question Do I need to modify the Bonnet Catch?

I got one of these which i'm going to fit over christmas, plain black grill from LMF

The question is do it need to modify the bonnet release catch or is it only for the Irmscher grille?

mmmm......i fitted one a while back, strictly speaking, yes it does incorporate the catch, but it also doesnt if you see what im saying. Its only good if you dont mind it sticking out about 15mm therefore looking rubbish. I made a modification anyway, so it sits behind the grill and cant be seen at all (completely flush).

I hacked off the end of the clip till the start of the white arrow and then blended it in with a file, almost like a door stop, so when you pull the catch, it shoots out past the slats and its still long enough to pull open every time...

I reckon it looks much better for it! change it for a nice smooth grill, you hardly want a visible catch....

You don't have to but it would look better if you did, Hev's is a good one to look at. She (read Stu!) drilled a new hole in the catch behind the bonnet so that it sits a bit further in with a slightly different pivot point.

Impossible to explain....maybe she could put a pic up.

I've done it with mine too - looks a lot better than having it sticking out!

http://www.m1gst.com/vb/showthread.php?t=47924 try the How To forum. If its the irmy grille im thinking of you'll most likely need to modify it a bit. Doesnt require much but it looks a lot better afterwards.
