    Tescos 99 Ron

This topic has cropped up a couple of times, but i have not seen someone say they have tried it yet. I found out the other day at the tescos near where i work has the stuff, but not tried it yet.

Anyone here with turbos tried it yet?

Ive used Tesco 99 Ron, in the corsa GSi & now in the SE2 (1.8 16v) personally it makes the engine feel alot smoother and seems to have more grunt, though what I find weird is that I can get more miles out of 99 ron than I did from 95 ron

I recommend it if anyones debating about it, though wants wrong with trying 20 litres of the stuff to find out for yourself

Yup, I use it Al, its great stuff, I find it is more refined. dont forget to let the ECU settle down and get used to the fuel i.e. don't fill up, turn the key and expect magic to happen.

I have been using the Tesco 99 Ron stuff for about 2 months now.

Seems to drive smoother but couldnt say if its made the car any quicker.

Only 89.9 too which is quite a bit cheaper than Optimax etc.

There is a review of the 'performance' fuels in the January edition of EVO magazine.

    Quote taken from another site:
BP Ultimate & Tesco 99 both gave stronger Torque figures on the rollers when used in the Golf, but Optimax gave the "smoothest" power delivery on the road and produced a stronger surge of power all the way to the red line, where the others tended to die off earlier.

For overall drivability, the winner was Optimax. For overall power, the winner was Sunoco 105 race fuel!!

Interesting to note that the turbo engine in the Golf showed significant differences between fuels, where as the BMW's N/A engine wasn't quite so phased, and produced similar figures regardless.

Not really - the Ecu will adjust the car accordingly.

However it's not wise to run cars designed for 4star on unleaded, unless it has been adapted to do so- either by adjusting the timing or changing the valve seats to harder ones. This mainly applies to much older cars tho.
