    What does "INSP" stand for

We've all (well most) been there.

Get in your car one morning and those immortal letters.

    I
    N
    S
    P

are there waving at you on your dash.

    Easy fix....but

As some of you are aware, i have a couple of friends who work in the parts department of a nearly local Vauxhall dealer.

When i was there last (to take the Astra VXR out for a spin), Lloyd HAD to tell me about a customer who came in and asked for "1 new spark plug" for his Astra G.

1? Are you sure you don't want a set of 4?

No, the customer was adamant it only needed one as, that what his car's telling him.

    Your cars telling you?

"Yes it says on my dash 1 NSP. That must mean 1 New Spark Plug"

How long did it take for him to work that one out? Which one does he change?

After a while it hurt laughing.

Oh and for the record, his car was due a service.........

and of you who deal with the pubic had similar experiences of the "clever" public?

Thats why it's in Chit Chat.

He did say it was very difficult to keep a straight face, saying he's only been there 3 weeks.

Nice story - I would have laughed in his face - so respect for staying quiet.

I work in customer support for a software company - part of our company writes property management software for hotels/cruise ships and resorts and the people that work in those sort of places are usually not computer literate, but the night staff can only be described as retards (in most cases). One night I was speaking to one of them, who was using one of our legacy DOS based products.

At the DOS prompt I asked him to type H: (colon), he went quiet, and I asked him what was wrong, there was no answer, but I could tell he hadn't hung up, as I could hear movement near the phone.

A few minutes later he came back to the phone and said "right I've got my coat on now what???"

I laughed so loud and for so long that he hung up on me and complained to my manager. I nearly got a bo##ocking, but managed to get the tape of the call from IT beforehand, and played it to my boss. She nearly wet herself laughing too!!!
