Not many people know, but we have been in the processes of importing an American Bulldog from the US.
A 5 year old b**ch, just completed her PETS passport a week or so ago.
She flew in to Heathrow thursday morning.
So, I'd like to introduce...................... Raven.
Well........ maybe not.
DEFRA weren't convinced of the type of dog she is, they called the dog legislation officer (a kinda nice chap, incidentally) who took one look at her and said those 2 words that guaranteed to strike terror in the heart of any bull breed owner...
So... now I got a dog, just about cost me a kidney to get her here, stuck in limbo at the animal reception centre.
Ireland refused her entry so now in the process of trying to get her to Sweden... fingers crossed.
This has been a terrible time for me, Ian our children... I just want to say to anyone thinking of importing from the US to be careful esp with the performance type AB as you could well find your self in the same situation as us.
We would like to thank everyone who has offered there help and there advice we are very touched by your generousity.
The main thing now is to get her out of the UK, and quick
The stupid law has 4 breeds banned and the american bulldog is not one of them, but its the word "PIT TYPE" that does it. There could also have been a high chance that she still would have been refused if she were a black lab.
