My alarm has gone mental... options?

My 888 has a standard fit alarm on it, but it's gone bonkers. Wakes me up 3 or 4 times a night and keeps going off outside my work now. It's only been happening in the last week or so, so I thought it was maybe the cold.

Anyhoo I can't keep getting woken up so what's my best option...

Can I have the alarm repaired or should I just get a new one?

Typical that it happens the week before christmas, when my road tax is due, i need 2 new tires, and a CV joint repair. Oh ****...

Do a search for "power sounder"

There is a 'how to' about it too.

Its the power sounder mate - battery back up is gone.

It's located under the liner of the passenger side wheel arch, behind the side repeater. About £50 from vauxhall iirc.

They are sealed units but you can break them open and get to the batteries. Sometimes the contacts are all coroded and you can clean them up and put back together, you used to be able to get replacement batteries, but not sure if they are still available

Anyone got a part number for the power sounder? Might pop into VX today and try and order one. If I take the unit out to try and replace batteries, can I still drive the car about and lock it etc without the sounder attached?

What Danny means is leave the key in the ignition (position 2) when you remove the old one and plug in the new one, otherwise the sounder goes off and nearly deafens you.

You can't drive the car with it unplugged btw. Don't have the part no. but they are the same for all Mk4's.

Got a part number after digging through some searches. I think I'll try to get into it and change batteries if possible, if not I'll just need to get a new one :\

And no I'm really not looking forward to the cold I can't even get the car into the garage either cos there's a wee slope that'll rip off the splitter lol
