    Good and bad ponts on diesels

    Hi guys,need a little help on diesels cos thinking of buying 1 next year. can you please tell me the good points of having a diesel ie golf gt tdi

    Good:

    Lots of torque
    Excellent MPG
    Good residuals
    Reliable
    Easy power gains

    Bad:

    Expensive to buy
    Diesel Clatter
    The MK4's i've been in have have not been as well built as I expected - creaky dash etc.

    i will be part ex the coupe in at the same garage were i bought the coupe from as it is a vw garage

    Why do you want an overpriced piece of crap like a Golf for?

    ok. im after a car that goes like the clappers, low insurance groupe , looks nice,will last and in the range of 6k. any ideas

    Mk4 Astra 2.0DTi. Got mine for £6800, group 8 insurance. Mine's a late 52 plate 5-door and had just over 30k on the clock. £6k should get you something similar.

    I get 41mpg in the town, 0-60 comes up quicker than you'd imagine, and I've had it doing a very constant 120mph for a 60 mile jaunt along a foreign motorway. And still got 38mpg on that run.
