Vectra VXR gets slated by TG

But actually I quite like it.

As the title suggests it gets slated. Read here for youself VECTRA VXR
255BHP through the front wheels. Audi and jag offer 4WD but as he says £24k is a bargain I recon.

They go on to moan about the linkage which I think after market components may be able to sort that and also brake problems as well. Again after market parts should be able to curb that.

Personally I think its what every dad has been waiting for. VXR with heritage from the BTCC and the Astra VXR, I recon every dad has been waiting for the day he can step into his family saloon with his dog onboard on a Sunday morning and tear up the roads like he was Nigel Mansell.

Onion Bargi in my opinion. (bargain)

It was never going to be perfect but the fact remains that its very quick for the pennies (quickest hatch on sale iirc?).

I'll bet that engine can be tweeked to 300+bhp quite easily too.

Lotus were heavily involved in the Astra but not the Vectra.
    Could that make a difference?

The cable linkage gearbox in the Vectra C has always been a weak spot.

The VXR is only available as estate or hatch. The saloon has very very poor sales in the UK.

I had a 2.2 SRi C last year, gearbox was well nothcy when cold, 2nd was a bugger to get in to. A vaux technician told me he could have it replaced under warranty no probs, but the new gearbox would just be the same if not worse.

But the C is an absolutely cracking car in any trim or engine so the VXR has got to be awesome.

I looked at a 2.2DTi LS when I was changing my car last, but I wasn't fussed on the seats in the LS, and the insurance was going to be too high. Nice car all the same.

Have just done a few hundred miles back to back from Astra to Vectra VXR. Very different drives, but both very very accomplished. Astra is a grab by the scruff of the neck and rag it car. Vectra just as quick in different way, but feels far more relaxed. Very much the licence loser!!!!

Prefer the seating position of the Vectra, feels much lower.

Gearbox feels the same in either. Smooth, not that short, but light and precise.
