    XBox 360 overheating?

Reports are coming through that the new XBox 360 is crashing due to overheats.

Boy, am I not surprised by that. 3x 3GHz CPUs in the thing, and it overheats? No shit Sherlock.

Is that a new XBox 360 you've got, or a space heater?

Theres a way around it but it invalidates your warranty, you have to open it up and raise the power pack off the bottom of the casing

Typical of M$. Create hype about something that doesn't even work.

Get a portable fan n stick it behind the Xbox to cool it down?

Keep it off carpet and make sure air can circulate around it freely.

    Same as any PC

This is old news. Apparently only 3% are affected which is supposed to be less than industry standard for faulty items at time of launch. All faulty ones are replaced no questions asked, so should not be a problem.

as with any consumer electronics, keep it off the carpet... and don't jam it away in a tight space - as cal says it's like any pc.

mine has had no problems, and as mike said it apprently affects less than 3% of consoles (3-5% is considered normal for new consumer electronics).

the only reason it's so prevelant is that all these units sold within a day and only the people who have problems are going to make a fuss.... no one is going to pipe up and make a noise if their console is working properly. hence the problems appear larger than they in fact are.

but yeah, my 360's just peachy

BILL GATES strikes again. Far too many reports of these things going wrong ATM, someone had smoke coming out of theirs.

    Not a good start really.

I certainly will not be buying one.

Hope you get it sorted though, especially after paying over the odds for it.

who gets it sorted? no one here has had a problem..... This whole thing is a load of overblown rubbish anyway, and the number of faults is still very low in comparison to the number sold. And that's what a warranty is for!

by all accounts, under that warranty MS sends you a prepaid delivery box, and returns a new console within a week..... where's the problem? some people are just so happy to get a chance to bash microsoft that they take any chance they get and run with it - hence why these reports are getting pushed around so much...
