    Haynes Manuals ~~~~Twinport Engines

    Hi Guys!

I was in Halfords at the weekend and saw they did a manual up almost until the end of the Mark 4 run. I had a flick through but it doesnt list the Twinport engine inside (mines a 1.6).

Does anyone know if one has been bought out for this engine, or should i just take the risk and get a general one (obviously the majority of things would be exactly the same but i'd like the engine info too)?

    Cheers

They've only just updated the MK4 manual to include the 2.2, so it'll probably be a while before they get round to addressing the twinport

Just out of interest - how does the twinport engine differ from other Astra engines?

Yeah true! Just really wanted to get an all in one book, rather than a book for most of the car, then have to buy again for when my engine comes out

Mantamad ~ Its to do with the air inlet, and im sure theres some other bits too! If you do a search theres a fair bit of info flying around the site

I bought an Irmscher back box off ebay and it had a bolted flange coupling (standard fit) but the twinport has a sleeved exhaust. It took 3/4 hour to convince a VX garage that the two parts wouldn't fit. After a look (when it had stopped raining) they agreed it wouldn't fit. I had to email Irmscher, there is an adapter pipe to convert from flange to sleeve fitting for the 'G'. So Haynes ain't the only ones who are slow on the uptake.
