Indirect Night Lighting (Part of the Rainpack)

I know this has been touched on breifly by BenC (See Here), but there didn't seem to be a conclusion...

Does anyone know what is needed to complete this upgrade?
I understand that the LED's are housed in the rear view mirror, which is part of the auto wipers/rain sensor pack.

I would imagine that by upgrading to the "electro-chromatic anti-dazzle rear-view mirror" (taken from the Vauxhall sales brochure), would mean having to get the whole lot working..

Is it true that a new windscreen is required, and if so, then why??

Does anyone have a part number for the mirror, or even a price?

And finally, the obvious, has anyone successfully completed this mod?

    Cheers,
    Stu.

The black section around the mirror is larger to accomodate the rain sensor unit, which I believe also houses the electronics for the mirror.

    I'll conclude it for you.

You'll need to replace the rear view mirror. You'll stuggle to find one in a scrappy, so the easiest option is from Vauxhall.

Around £200 for the replacement mirror IIRC. More than the option on the car!

they are also on Zafira Gsi's as i have one without the rain sensor pack so it might be standard on "normal" Zafira's worth having a look as the light comes on when the headlight switch is made....... best of luck

That's quite interesting!!... I'll have to look into that!

Does anyone have any photo's of the mirrors, either the ones with the rain sensing, or the one off the Zafira?

    Cheers.

To be honest, I'm not too fussed about the auto-dimming, and the rain-sensing... I'm only really after the night lighting. However, the other functions would be a nice bonus!

I understand I could probably knock something up myself using a couple of LED's etc.. and I did consider using the interior light out of an E39 etc.. but I would prefer to keep it looking standard.. or atleast GM.

Do you know of any going for sale?
