    Turbo Lag Question

    Hey dudes,

Theres something that has buggin me for a while now bout me mota, wonderng if anyone can help.
When i first bought me Coup Turbo back in may this year, i obviously quickly found out that it was f**kin quick (i could hit 50 in 2nd gear at about 3500rpm)!!. It felt like it had no lag at all. About a month after i got it i heard a knocking noise under the bonnet and found out that i had knackered bearings in the water pump (the car wasnt overheating tho ?), so it promptly went back to the garage for a new water pump. When i got it back i noticed that it had a s*it load of lag, much more than before). Me was thinkin that before, as the intercooler wasnt doin its job properly, cos of the poor water circulation it was dumpin hot air back into the engine...... Anyway im just rambling here, havnt got a f**king clue to be honest, wondering if any of you can shed some light on this kernundrem !!!

    Thanks boyz,

    Timmy.

If the water pump has been replaced then the cam belt will have been off too, so there is a chance the timing is out, which would slaughter the performance.

I would have it checked out ASAP.

The water flow will have sod all effect on the intercooler, as thats cooled by fresh air, not rad water

BTW, you are doing well to be doing 50 mph at 3500 RPM in second gear

    Cheers for the info guys,

I had the pump (and the cambelt) changed at the garage where i bought the car, a small dealer in Gravesend. I think when i put in in for the service, ill take it to vaux, i may get r*ped by the cost of everythng, but at least ill get things done properly !, cos i did speak to the garage that changed the pump, but me knowing not much bout these things, all i got was "we did what you told us to". Ill take it to vaux and get them to look at the timing as well.

    Cheers boyz,

    Timmy

you must have some funky gearbox then to be able to do 50mph at 3500rpm!!

how fast will it go if you take it to 6000rpm in second?

    Cheers dude,

ill have a look at some other garages then !. I was thinking of sending it to VX cos when i had the first service done on the car (at the local garage i bought the car at), i put it in with an oil leak and it came back with an oil leak !!. What bad VX experiences have you had ??. Havent you also got more comeback from a main dealer say if things go wrong ?

    Cheers bud,

    Timmy

There are probably some good vx dealers out there but my local one is crap (and now theyve gone bust! haha)
They seemed to try and fleece me something rotten-told me various sensors needed replacing that were simply disconnected! They wanted about £500 for a new cat & pipe because the pipe had a slight slit in it (I simply welded it) and most horrifying recently i had my astra serviced-brakes 'inspected' as being 20% worn so "plenty of life left". I got home and checked cos i was bored.... turns out id been using the pad's metal backing plates to brake so technically they were 100+% worn.... I got a refund for the parts I used and a brake fluid change and discounted future servicing but there'll be no future!
Any info on V6 MK4 conversions greatly appreciated!
