    oil change on astra h

    hi all
1st post so easy does it.
after 8 yrs of vectra ownership i have bought a new shape astra 1.4 breeze edition, no problems at all and 40 mpg.
its just done 9000 mls/ 6 months old and i was thinking about doing a oil and filter change to get all the running in muck out, is that advisable also whereabouts is the oil filter on this engine as i cant seem to locate it.
    cheers all

    Welcome along!

The Z14XEP in the Mk5 is dead easy to change the oil in. You'll need an oil filter cartridge, and a new sump plug. Tools required are a T40 Torx driver, and a big adjustable spanner or socket for the filter.

The oil filter is the large round black thing in this pic, just above the little red star (that's a Z12XE, but very similar to your 1.4)

Take the sump plug out, drain the oil, change the filter making sure to renew the o-rings that should be supplied with the new filter. Fit new sump plug, and fill away. 3.5 litres I think is what you'll need.
