    I'm now a happy bunny!!

    I've finally got my cruise control working, after about 18 months of head scratching, researching, begging for advice on here, bugging my pal at vauxhall, and about 5 tech2 plug-ins.

    Firstly, a big BIG thanks to Andy at Bridgwater Vauxhall garage in Walkden (not sure if he comes on here though), and also Lee who put me in touch with Andy. They're the kind chappys that sort my tech2 bits for me...

    Next up to everyone on here who has offered advice.. thanks!

    Oh, and a thumbs down to Kirkby Central Vauxhall in Bolton (now called something else though), for telling me it COULDN'T be done, then saying it could, but at a cost of £800+... yeah, proved you guys wrong!

    Anyway, here's the story;
    My car was built with the cc wires present behind the dash, from the switches to the bulkhead plug. BUT, the engine loom was missing the cc wires from the bulkhead plug to the ecu!!

    This was discovered after trying different switches & a couple of plugins, when it was noticed that the ecu was not receiving the signals

    It then took me over 12 months to find the neccessary wiring diagrams & ecu pin diagrams & finally get round to putting the wires into the loom. Took it out for the big test drive AND....................... SHIT! Still nothing

    WHAT THE ***** IS WRONG WITH MY CAR!!!????

    So, back to Andy for another plugin... more to ease my mind that I hadn't connected to the wrong pins on the ecu (even though I was 110% sure!). He checked & it was showing cc as active, and the ecu was now seeing all the inputs it needed. SO WHY THE FECK WASN'T IT WORKING!!??!?!?!?!

    Andy then noticed that the error log was full of old entries from the cc not recieving signals from the switches etc & decided to clear them down

    BINGO!!!! It started working!!!!

    I am so pleased!! It's been an absolute headache considering it was supposed to be a quick, cheap mod.. but I wasn't prepared to let it go unfinished, especially having been told it couldn't be done etc.

    Next up, CLIMATE CONTROL!! I'm all fired up to take this challenge head on!

    p.s. anyone experiencing the same problems with their cruise control, feel free to get in touch, and if need be, I can check over your wiring & add anything that may be missing.

    No, Andy wouldn't take anything each time... He's a VERY kind fella, and helped me out quite a lot!

    He even pulled his brother's astra apart to test my switches on etc...

    sandant, I will try to forward you the info when I get home toinght..

    Skot, I have the 2000(X) 1.8 SXi 3 dr, with fly by wire.. as said, it didn't have all the wires in the loom for some strange reason! Can't remember the total cost, but I don't think it was more than £50, and I use it ALL the time!
